Teachers and Students
Each Spring and Fall, the Johnstown Inclined Plane hosts numerous school field trips from not only this area but from all over Pennsylvania as well.
We at the Incline believe in its role as an education tool for students of all ages. The Incline serves as an outdoor classroom for students studying our area’s industrial steel history, the physics of an inclined plane, and even the vegetation on our hillside trail.
Johnstown Area Heritage Association has created a lesson plan that includes a visit to the Incline, its visitors’ center, and the observation deck. This lesson plan is free of charge. Other tours near the Incline include:
Inclined Plane Scavenger Hunt (PDF)
James Wolfe Sculpture Trail tour (PDF)
Westmont Walking Tour
Downtown Johnstown Walking Tour
Ecology Tour of Edgehill Drive (PDF)

We encourage you to review these tours and see how they can suit your classes’ needs.
